PISCES competition - POLISH ICELANDIC SCHOLARSHIP - EXCHANGE STUDIES

The Faculty of Management and Faculty of Oceanography & Geography of the University of Gdańsk and the University of Akureyri in cooperation with North Atlantic Producers Organization organize a competition aiming to support for polish students willing to study at the University of Akureyri under the frame of the Erasmus exchange programme.

 

 

The objectives of the Competition are:

a. Strengthening the Polish and Icelandic fisheries sector by providing qualified and experienced human resources;

b. Increasing the exchange of knowledge and good practices between the academic and business sectors;

c. Financial support for talented students focusing on scientific interests related to the fisheries sector, quality and safety of food and food processing;

d. Promotion of student exchange between Polish and Icelandic universities.

 

Students from the University of Gdańsk, the Faculty of Management and Faculty of Oceanography & Geography can apply for the scholarship.

Fish processing experts gave last lectures at the Faculty of Management at the University of Gdańsk.

 

On November 21, we hosted the following experts:

INAUGURATION OF THE 2nd EDITION OF PISCES 2020

 

North Atlatnic Producers Organisation in cooperation with the Faculty of Management of the University of Gdańsk, the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography of the University of Gdańsk and the University of Akureyri School of Business in Science in Iceland undertook to organize the second edition of the scholarship competition, with the aim to support Polish students intending to study at the University of Akureyri under the Scholarship Program Erasmus.

 

The event inaugurating the PISCES (Polish Icelandic Scholarship - Exchange Studies) competition with the participation of representatives of the Honorary and Program Council of the PISCES Competition took place on October 24 at the Faculty of Management of the University of Gdańsk.

 

An unquestionable attraction of the inauguration itself was the opening lecture of a special guest, Captain Zbigniew "Gutek" Gutkowski, one of the best sailors in the world, a participant of single-handed sailing races around the globe,i.a. Vendee Globe or Velux 5 Oceans Race. "Gutek" gave a lecture entitled Impossible is nothing and thus encouraged students to pursue their own dreams and plans.

 

Students of the Faculty of Management  and Faculty of Oceanography & Geography at the University of Gdansk will be able to apply for three annual scholarships in the amount of EUR 5,000 each (the total prize pool is EUR 15,000), and the condition for participation in the competition is:

 

  • the status of the ERASMUS + scholarship holder at the University of Akureyri
  • submitting a competition application together with writing a paper on "Climate change impact on global fisheries revenues."
  • presentation of the above work before the PISCES Program Board

  • Font: Times New Roman, size: 12 pts.
  • Leading: 1,15 pts.

PISCES scholarship 2019/2020 granted!

 

We have granted the first PISCES scholarship. We would like to thank  all of PISCES competition participants as well as all of lecturers engaged in PISCES competition.

Deadline for submission of the PISCES essays has expired.

 

We are now assessing the received essays. We will inform you soon about the results of the PISCES contest.

Inauguration of the lectures

 

On March 14, 2019 (Thursday) at 13:30 at the Faculty of Management of UG, we’ will start series of lectures titled: Quality Management & Logistics of Food (Fishery) sector in practice conducted by specialists and practitioners from the fisheries industry in Poland and Iceland.

 

The first two lectures will concern independent quality standards in the fishing industry and quality management rules in the fish processing industry in Poland.

Inauguration of PISCES Contest

 

North Atlantic Producers Organization Ltd. in cooperation with the Faculty of Management at the University of Gdańsk and the University of Akureyri School of Business and Science in Iceland undertook the organization of a scholarship contest, which aim is to support Polish students willing to study at the University of Akureyri under the Erasmus Scholarship Program. The event inaugurating the PISCES competition (Polish Icelandic Scholarship - Exchange Studies) took place on November 7, 2018 at the Faculty of Management at the University of Gdańsk.
